Agena Castle Ruins
Sunday - March 12, 2017

I was at the bullring yesterday, in the rain, and wasn't aware of this castle ruins' location.
I knew that it was up here somewhere but didn't take the time to explore in foul weather.
But, as you can see, I didn't give up on it altogether. One of the nice things about being
on island for weeks at a time is that there is ample opportunity to go back and try again!

The beginning of the trail leading up to the ruins is located in the far corner of the park as
shown above. You can see the parking lot and the bullring in the Google photograph.

In the following video, at about 5:36, the obelisk reads, according to my friend, Zhao Yuxing, as:
1st side shown: Showa 47th year (1972) May 15; designated by country.
2nd side shown: (with the large fonts) Historic remains, Agena Castle Ruins
3rd side (with bold double lines of words): Okinawa Prefecture Ministry of Education, Science and Culture.
This ministry is likely now known as "Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology; NEXT"
4th side: Erected on Showa 49th year (1974) March 31st
Zhao-san domo arigatou gozaimasu!

The following drone imaging is not my own.

Upon leaving the park this little guy caught my attention and brought back memories of little people of my own
