Comments: Thanks for great web page. I was stationed on Kadena from 1963 to 1968 and was hoping see some pictures of Gate 3. I lived just inside the gate across from the elementary school. Third house on the left as you came in the gate.
I have so many great memories of Kadena. The boonies and playing in the bomb shelters that you pictured in your gallery. Felix the cat gum and Ginki milk and Astroboy on channel 12 or 13 can't really remember. But those are just memories my family lost all of our pictures of Okinawa in a flood in 68. I am hoping to return to Okinawa soon but I know it will be real expensive and my father a retired chief master sergeant tells me it has changed so much I would be disapointed but I have to see for myself. I have been trying to get a roadmap of Okinawa and Kadena but have not had any success. Can you tell me where I can find one. If you can send me a copy via e-mail you could send it to Wville@aol.com since my juno address will not except graphics. Once again thanks and I will continue to check your web page for further pics. Wrote you last night and remembered that I may have lived four houses on the left past gate 3. That is if there is a house before you get to the first street on the left. My sister and I have been reminising about Okinawa and have been e-mailing our life and times back and forth to each other for quite a while. If you are interested in the life and times of a couple of Air Force Brats in the 60's I would gladly at you to our e-mail gallery. Thanks again for a great web page. Looking forward to hearing from you. I will attach a map that I have drawn from memory.

Well.... hmmm... I can't seem to figure out how to open your tiff file (the map) Speaking of maps, I looked through my den and came up with a map of Kadena.. I knew I had it. It's really too big to scan but I'd be happy to mail it to ya (snail mail) if you want to give me an address.
I too, was an Air Force brat.. grew up in the Eastern US and Europe with three years in France. I spent my 20 years of active duty in the Western US and seven years on Okinawa. (1972-75 and 1986-90) All I can say is that I remember Gate 3 and used it quite often when I lived off base in Aza-oki, Yomitan-son. I'd come south into Kadena Circle then up to gate 3 to get to the clinic where I worked.

Comments: Spent '62-64 at Kadena.. Went over in the 498th Missle Wing but xfer to the 400th MMS ..Back to Kadena in '72 and was there when transfered to Japan.... I am a SCUBA diver and have never been any where as great as Okinawa for diving!!! Thanks for sharing this page!!!
