I had the great pleasure of meeting for lunch with Alan Clutter (see MailBag, page 10) in August, 07. We had corresponded a
few times and he happened to be in town, so we planned to meet and had a very pleasant visit.
Hey, Alan! I hope it was as good for you as it was for me - to shake hands, share a meal and talk about the old days, that is. If I'm ever in Kankekee,
Illinois I'll look you up and return your kindness!

NOTICE:
Hey, Craig P! I'm not ignoring your e-mail messages. My replies come back undeliverable with the following comment: "550 SC-002 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. The mail server IP connecting to Windows Live Hotmail has exhibited namespace mining behavior." I have no idea what that means but I can't get through to you. Thanks for the message about JapanUpdate. I've enjoyed reading that and the link has been on my "In the News" page for years. Mick
ClickOkinawa.com welcomes Gene Wing into the fold! Gene contacted me and we struck up a spirited round of correspondence and sharing of some photos from his days with the 3d Marine Division, Company "C", 7th Engineers. Seems that his outfit might well be thanked for many of the roads that went in up north around Ada Village back in the '50s. Check out his collection of photos at the Gene Wing Gallery.
Roger e-mailed me to share an adventure he and a friend had on Okinawa when he was all of 12 years young.
I wonder how many others had similar experiences. His story reminded me of the day I took my sons to the annual search for WWII remains.
We searched caves all day and had quite a time.
Read Roger's adventure.

Harry Hollis - SeaBees I'm worried about Harry now. I haven't heard from him in many, many months and we were working on getting a translation going on a Japanese soldier's diary that had come into his possession. If
anyone knows how Harry's doing, please let me know! Mick
Ocean - Peace - Development
Prefectural People's Song
by Seiko Miyasato
The day breaks over the clean ocean
Clouds are cleared over the peaceful islands
Dawn bell sounds throughout the world
We now face the glorious morning
Gone are the days of trials
Oh! We solemnly swear
We swear eternal peace on Okinawa
The Black Current runs around the islands
Green mountains and rivers glowing
We, the fellow citizens are stirred up
To build a new, independent and prosperous Okinawa
Now, let us build eternal peace
On our home islands
The skies are filled with lights
Stain the Deigo flowers with brilliant color
The folk culture inherited for generations
Now brilliantly shines over our home islands
Let us create our own culture
For future Okinawa
Did I mention... my Tour Okinawa video Tours are now available on DVD! You can read about the 14-DVD collection [HERE]. Check 'em out!
