This, as many of you know is Sugar Loaf Hill, where extremely brutal fighting occurred during the battle for Okinawa in 1945. U.S. forces, showing unsurpassed skill, bravery, determination, and resolve, were successful in securing this hill, and the rest of the island. The service and dedication of our veterans always warrants our highest level of respect and honor.
