I knew Buddy for over 60 years and he was one of the best friends I ever
had. I'm sure going to miss him. I wasn't there but I think he had a conversation with God many years ago
and it went something like this.
Buddy: Like what God?
GOD: Well, like give up cigarets and all those greasy foods cooked with
fatback. And those eggs cooked in the streak-of-lean bacon
fat. Those toddies you have everday, cut back to one per day.
Buddy: What if I don't give these wonderful things up?
GOD: Then, Buddy I'm going to have to call you Home sooner.
Buddy: I don't wish to challenge You, God, but if I got a choice I'm
standing pat.
God: OK, Buddy. It's your choice.
Buddy: By the way, how much longer would I live if I gave up all those
things You mentioned?
GOD: About 15 minutes.
Buddy continued to live the lifestyle he always lived. Then on Jan.23
Buddy went out to mow his lawn. God saw him, and He was lonely, and He
knew what a great friend Buddy was to so many people and He was
envious. He decided to call him Home. God told Buddy what He was
doing, and Buddy thought of the pain and suffering he had been through.
He thought of his family and friends and how he would miss them. But he
knew he had no choice. And he smiled and said to God, " I'm ready".

GOD: Buddy, you're not in good health and you've got to clean up your
act.
