Tamaudun is located to the west of Shuri-jo along the street of Ayajo-ufumichi which leads to the Gate of Courtesy, Shurei-mon. It was constructed in 1501 by King Sho Shin when he decided to transfer the skeletal remains of his father, King Sho En (who was on the throne from 1470 until 1476) from Miagemori.
