Then proceed to the famous Shurei-no Mon (also called Shureimon)

There used to be a gate called Chuzan-mon, which was of the same type as the Shurei-no-mon.
Unfortunately, the Chuzan-mon was demolished in 1908 due to obsolescence. It was about 500 meters
further down Ayajo Ufumichi, the boulevard that leads to Shuei-no-mon.

Because Chuzan-mon, in its day, was the first gate, Shureimon is also referred to as Ue no Ayajo, or ‘on top of Ayajo.’
