Shuri-jo in 2014-15

Located in the garden of Shicha-nu-Una, in front of Houshinmon Gate, there were at least four spots designated for large jugs to be buried in the ground.

In old documents, these were called tensuigame and it is thought that the jugs collected rain water to be used for putting out fires.

In order to restore the tensuigame jugs they used earthenware ceramics (tsuboyayaki) that resembled the tensuigame in shape,
design, size and form, and placed them in the original locations they were found during excavation.
