The style of Shikinaen is a Japanese circular garden which became popular in modern Japan. Shikinaen is characterized by a red tile roofed Ryukyu structure called Udun on the small island of the pond and a hexagonal Chinese style arbor with a black tile roof called Rokkakudo. The Chinese style arch bridges of various sizes are placed to connect the small island.
