Although Shikinaen was destroyed during the Second World War it was reconstructed. Shikinaen is a treasure for Okinawa since it was designed as a unique style garden of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Shikinaen was designated as a special place of scenic beauty by the government of Japan in the year 2000.
