After passing through Zuisenmon one will next encounter Roukokumon, another gate just before getting into the heart of the castle grounds.

Roukoku means "water clock". A water tank was positioned in the turret atop the gate, and the volume of dripping water was used to measure time. Together with the sun dial located in the square just past the gate, the water was used to tell time which was announced by striking a drum.
